"The day is done, and the darkness, Falls from the wings of Night,
As a feather is wafted downward, From an eagle in his flight."

~ Henry Wadsworth Longfellow ~

Did you know that the bald eagle isn't really bald? The word "bald" used to be another word for "white." That is the reason a Bald Eagle has a white head, instead of a bald head.

While the Bald Eagle was considered endangered for many years, on June 28, 2007 the Interior Department took the American bald eagle off the Endangered Species List. The bald eagle is still protected by the Migratory Bird Treaty Act and the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act. The Bald Eagle Protection Act prohibits taking, transporting, selling, bartering, trading, importing, exporting, or owning eagles. It is illegal for anyone to collect eagles, eagle parts, nests, or eggs without a permit.
